Zebo
Privacy Policy
Zebo works two ways: as a guest your progress stays on your phone, and if you sign in with your Apple account it is stored on our server. Below is exactly what is sent and what is not.
Guest mode
If you do not sign in, no account is created on the server: your lessons, streak, XP and word count stay on your phone alone. Guest mode is not fully offline, though. Three things still go to our server: the lesson's illustration and Turkish audio, whatever you type to the AI tutor, and the text the device recognised in a speaking exercise — the last two are forwarded from there to Microsoft Azure OpenAI. None of those requests carries an account identifier, so we cannot tie them to you; but the words you typed do reach us. For that reason, please keep personal or confidential details out of the chat.
If you sign in with Apple
When you press "Sign in with Apple", Apple gives us the following and we store it:
- the user identifier Apple issues (a long, meaningless string);
- your name, if you agree to share it;
- your email address, if you share it. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever receive the private relay address and never see your real one.
From then on your study record is stored on the server: completed lessons, streak, XP and the number of words learned. That is what lets you carry on from another device.
The AI tutor (Zebo chat)
What you type in the chat is sent to our server and forwarded from there to Microsoft Azure OpenAI, and the reply comes back to you. The key lives on the server, never on the phone. Please do not type passwords, card numbers or other secrets into the chat — they are never needed there.
Pronunciation checking: your audio does not reach our server
In the speaking exercise, the app asks iOS to turn speech into text on the phone itself, and where the device supports that for Turkish, that is what happens. Some devices do not have the Turkish offline model — in that case iOS may send the audio to Apple's servers for recognition, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Either way, the recording never goes to our server and we never store it: only two lines of text reach us — the Turkish phrase you were asked to say, and the text the device believed it heard.
Images and audio files
The 287 lesson scenes and 1,929 Turkish audio recordings do not live inside the app; they sit on our server and are downloaded when needed. That is what keeps the app a few megabytes instead of several hundred. These are ordinary web requests, and technical data such as an IP address may remain briefly in the server log; we do not build profiles from it.
What we do not do
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- No advertising identifier (IDFA), and no tracking across apps or websites.
- We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising.
- The microphone is switched on only during a speaking exercise, never in the background.

- Microsoft Azure OpenAI - tutor replies and pronunciation advice.
- Railway - where our server runs.
- Neon - the database holding study records.
Your rights
Account deletion is inside the app. At the bottom of the Profile tab there is "Hisobni o'chirish" (Delete account): you confirm once, and your account together with all of your progress, streak and achievements is removed from the server. You do not have to write to us to ask, and we keep no copy.
If you studied in guest mode there is no server-side record at all — deleting the app from your phone is enough.

Children
Zebo is a general-audience language-learning app. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it and the current text stays on this page.
